Our Treatment Team Staff

​The Guidance Center's diverse staff provides a strong foundation for the agency. They are committed to the continued growth and development of the agency as well as their individual professional expertise. The professional staff participate in various educational programs focusing on topics such as cultural competency, health and safety, evidence based practices in behavioral health care delivery and the changing needs in the community. Staff are educated in links to referral resources and other education required for compliance with the Louisiana State certification requirements and CARF accreditation standards.

 

Mental Health Specialist (MHS)

Typically have a bachelor's level degree in a mental health related field and may be a student in a graduate mental health program. The primary focus of the MHS is skill building for the clients.

Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)

Have graduated from a master's degree program and are licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana by the applicable professional board of examiners. LMHPs are responsible for all clinical services and supervision of all MHS and MHP staff. LMHPs may be either an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). 

Mental Health Professional (MHP)

Have completed a master's degree in a mental-health related field, but are not independently licensed. MHPs provide a wide array of services.

Psychiatrist / Medical Psychologist

Provide consultation and/or medication management services on site. These staff are licensed medical doctors who have been approved by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners to provide these services in Louisiana.
